So i got myself a new PC, a pretty decent one for 1000$.4gb ramxfx geforce 9800 GT600wat power supplyintel core 2 duo at 3.33ghzwindows xp 32 bit(getting 64 bit vista on xmas)and a super crazy mobo that my dad wanted to get, so i wouldnt haveto replace my mobo.(and so i can upgrade as i go)nForce 790i moboso im playing guild wars and suddenly my msn convo becomes important, so i close it. I remember i needed to do something on guild wars quick, so i re open it. It takes an infinate amount of time to load, and then when i try to open up task manager it doesnt work. So i click start to turn off my PC and it doesnt click. So i click it a couple more times and my PC makes a loud ''beep'' and freezes, thats where i gotta turn it off through the power button. When i turn it back on, it does this every time i open ANY game, and takes approximately 5 clicks before it beeps and freezes. So i run windows in safe mode. Its ok, so i switch it back to normal mode. All of my desktop icons are deleted, and it freezes while booting up the game once more. Now it takes 5 minutes to log into windows, and freezes randomly. And still freezes 100% when a game is opened. Whats wrong?!?Big PC issue please help. Freezes when i open any game....

i took it to where i built it, and they swapped out the video card and the hard drive and it running fine. I want to know what caused this so it wont happen again.

Nothing neccesarily caused it. Hardware bites the dust sometimes. But I would check your CPU and GPU temps to be sure. Use gpu-z for GPU, and something like real temp or core temp for cpu temps.

My guess would be your motherboard. Nvidia chipsets seem to be hit or miss. For some people they run fine, for others, nothing but trouble.
It is just a guess, but I bet if you would have gotten an Intel chipset IE: P35, P45, you would not be having these issues.
