So. I was playing TF2 a little while back and suddenly out of nowhere the textures went wacky. They basically went white with bright colored stripes and spots running all over the place. Later on I was Day of Defeat Source and then it got realy bad and everything became white. I think from what I heard from the other players it was artifacting. But I cant be sure because one of the players recommened I restart the computer and so I did...What happened is - the computer stopped booting. At first it was able to post but nothing would come up on the screen. So here I thought it was just the VC right? but then I took out the card and it wouldnt even make an error code beep. So then I was baffled. Well after that I tool all pieces out (RAM, HDD, Optical Drive, and VC. And then finally it beeped the error code that there isnt a videocard in the comp. So I slowly one by one put the pieces back into the comp and it was still beeping. I think it might actually also be the power supply now that I think of it. Anyway. Right now the computer is out of commission but someone can help...please help. I love this game.Oh and I also remembered that when I put everything back in I actually forgot to plug in the VC and then that is when it kept beeping the error codes. It didnt...when the VC was plugged in. Haha...is it the power supply? And would that cause artifacting in-game? Thats the part I dont understand...maybe both?
My specs:
Athlon 64 X2 5200+
2GB RAM
Ati Radeon X1950 PROTheres also one more thing to add. So every now and then I dust my computer out right? Well one time I didnt for a while and my Videocard temp apparently got up to 92 degrees C. I think that is what I saw. Anyway...I cleaned out the comp and it went back down to about 57-64. And my CPU temps dropped also. Is it possible that the VC got damaged then and is just screwing up now along with the power supply? and if it is the power supply should i be testing to see if another VC that doesnt use as much power works? Hardware Failure. Im Dr. House now.
i belive you have terminal cancer my friend.Hardware Failure. Im Dr. House now.
today I tested the computer with another videocard. A 6600gt...and it still have the...No videocard error beep code from the motherboard. Any ideas?
Have you tried running from the onboard vc on the motherboard?
It could be that your power supply is dying or theres a problem with the motherboard
Problem with the system bus, maybe PCI-Express bus/port? I'd check PSU too. It's probably not a problem with inadequate current through the 12V rail, since it didn't work with the 6600, and that's a pretty tame card. If anything, the PSU would just be flat out busted.
I am Dr John Becker and my diagnosis is a dead PSU.
lol well. I got it working like normal with all original parts. I jsut reseated everything and it was fine. Not sure what went wrong or...well, right. Just gonna watch it now.
Alright so as expected, something happened. The videocard failed again. I know the rest is working tho cuz I just loved the mouse to the login button and it gave me the whole windows startup song...uh thing. I guess it really is just the videocard.
