Upgrading from a 7600gt oc to a HD4870

Hi guysSo im upgrading my old gfx card (7600gt) with a HD4870I was just wondering how much of a performance increase i will see, i know it should be alot but how many fps on average would you say if i were to stay at the same resolution? The card should not be bottlenecked as im using a Q9450 atm and 2gb 6400 ram, windows xpDoes anyone also know how this card will perform with the likes of a modded oblivion max settings at 1920x1080 resolution? Thanks:) Upgrading from a 7600gt oc to a HD4870
i run all settings on Crysis in Very High (DX10) at 1440x900 with a average Framrate of 40FPS (sometimes higher) May i ask what kind of CPU/Ram you have also youre Powersupply?Upgrading from a 7600gt oc to a HD4870
My Cpu is Q9450 2.6 stock (atm) Planning on whacking that up a bit probs 3-3.2 ghzI have 2gb 6400 ddr2 ramIm upgrading my powersupply, going to get one 2night but it will probs be either 550-650 (depending on the 12V rail amerpages they have)
at the resolution youre asking its probbly not gonna do very good...Probbly around 20fps or so but you could overclock and probbly get another 5-10FPS. also i reccomend another 2 gigs of ram...oh yeah are you on XP or vista. in DX 9 i think you could probbly play crysis at the resolution you wanted but in DX10 i dont think a single card can handle it
Im running xp 32-bitTheres no point in having any more ram on this operating system as i've read it wont recogonise any more than 3gb.
I can't give you an exact framerate, but an HD4870 can run Oblivion at pretty much any resolution maxed out with no problems. As for the RAM upgrade, do it. When I'm in Windows XP 32-bit (I have a dual OS system), my system shows that I have 3.5gb of ram that it can use. You will want it for alot of upcoming games, and some current ones. Not to mention that the price of RAM is insanely low right now.
