Installing an additional internal Hard Drive

Is installing an internal SATA 2 HD as simple as plugging in the SATA and power cable? Would Windows XP recognize it right away or are there more steps that need to be done. Thanks Installing an additional internal Hard Drive
You need to create a partition, and format it. Go to control panel, administative tools, the disk administrator. You should see you new disk, and if you right click on it you should see a create new partition in the context menu and also format. Just make sure you are on the right drive. I don't see an ''the disk administrator icon'' lol. Or does it show up after I install the Hard Drive?
Sorry, after administrative tools, click computer management, then disk management.
