Quad vs. Duo

Due to budget cuts I'm not gonna get the i7, so I wanna know which is better for gaming quad or duo? My computers really just gonna be gaming/web surfing thats it, no video editing, photoshop etc. Quad vs. Duo
The intel Core 2 Quad Processors are very better then Duos. Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q965012MB L23 GHz1333 MHzIs almost great as The Intel Core 2 Extreme (quad core)Quad vs. Duo
This really depends on how much you want to spend. For $160-$170 you can get a really nice Core 2 Duo like mine and overclock it. Right now there is very little point in buying a quad-core for gaming unless you have money to burn, which from your post, it sounds like you don't. Also, with the way games are using cpu's right now, if you must get a quad- get one that will overclock to at least 3.2-3.4 ghz. Namely, a very expensive one. You'll want the clock speed to get the most out of any decent gaming video card.
OC go for quad q6600. otherwise u can try dual E8500
E7300 and a beefy GPU.

Get a quad if you are going to overclock, otherwise save a lot of money and get a faster dual core!
There's a topic just like this on page one of the forum. There are also about ten other topics like it in the forum. Does anyone use the search function?
il show you an more accurate benchmark Q9550 overclocked to around 3.8ghz is near E8600 4.3ghz Overclock in all-round performances
the big problems is Q9550 as we know off is hard to go higher then 3.6ghz at nice voltage so it likely why Core 2 Duo lead in overclocking challange
if a E8400 3.6Ghz Can match a Q9550 3.6Ghz It why the E8600 4.3ghz LEAD of course i haven't overclock yet to that level but respecting votlage level i should reach 4.3Ghz but as Easy Step 4.0ghz unlikes E8400 who can't reach 4.0ghz without playing with voltage much near some dangerous line

the problems is Q9650 = 550$ = You' better core i7 For that money but you said you can't no money for it so it sad for you but if i was you id go Core i7 + like a 260GTX 216 Core then in the Future Set of Video card like 5870 by that time you got Extra money so you can get a Real Decent GPU and Leave ur 260GTX / SLI as Waste Else if you sli 260GTX 216 Core Is A Good option and higher then 4870x2 With Current Drivers * It a possible ati to make a comeback but it unlikely to be soon After Well Thinking I leave a JPG What informate you on Current Status with COre 2 %26 COre 2 Quad with a gTX 280 which is only few fps behind 280GTX
