Nvidia gtx 280

I'm looking to get a gtx 280. i currently have an Antec 500W Earthwatts PSU. Is this enough? I know the minimum is 550W on nvidia's website. My rig is E6300 @ 1.86 GHz, 3 gb DDR2 667MHz, Intel DG965WH MB. Would the 500W cut it?Nvidia gtx 280

No. If I were you, I'd consider getting a good 600 watt at the least.Nvidia gtx 280
Not a bad idea to get a better PSU. Also, overclock that cpu if you can. You should be able to get 2.5-2.6 ghz out of it. You'll get alot more gain out of that gtx 280 if you do.
looking at your specs i think a gtx 280 would be bottlenecked pretty badly... i'd go for something cheaper like a 4850 or 9800 gtx
Yeah I agree with the above poster; unless you're doing some serious overclocking, I wouldn't recommend going for a beast like the 280. The 4870 might be a better price point. As for the PSU, if you have a very reliable PSU with solid rails and a high-efficiency, then you don't need a bigger PSU. Computers hardly draw more than 300 watts of power at 100% efficiency.
well. how safe is overclocking? b/c the max temp is 60.1 C. When i play games, like COD4, Crysis, GRID, etc. it heats up to about 52-53ish. I have the heat sink that came with it. Its simple w/ a fan.
