***News*** 55nm GTX285 Climbs to Head of Single-GPU Cards!

55nm GTX285 Climbs to Head of Single-GPU CardsWe have looked into55nm GeForce GTX260 VGA Card, now let's turn to 55nm GTX280. It features brand-new PCB design and enhanced default frequency. Besides, it's been given a newbrand %26ndash; GeForce GTX285. NVIDIA GeForce GTX280 Adopting P891 as reference design, GeForce GTX285 remains 10.5'' length just as GTX280. And its cooler is dual-slot designed with dual DVI and S-Video output. The graphic memory carries on 1GB GDDR3, and its stream processors is 240. The frequencyof GeForce GTX285 remains to be confirmed, but its performance can get up to 110% of GTX280. We can regard GeForce GTX285 as GTX280 Overclocking Edition with less power consumption. GeForce GTX280's MaximumGraphicsCardPower is 236W, and it requires a 6-pin and a 8-pin PEG Power Connectors. However, GeForce GTX285's power consumptionhas beenreduced to 183W with only 2 6-pin PEG power connectorsneeded. GeForce GTX285 with highest clock and lowest power consumption is undoubtedly the most powerful card in single-GPU cards, while new GeForce GTX260 arouses the most attention in middle and high-end cards' price war. Dual-GPU GeForce GTX295 is expected to regain the crown of performance. All of these will happen in January 2009. After unveiling details of NVIDIA new-line products, wewill follow some newsaboutAMD's plan to fight back, such as RV775XT. (Special thanks to one of our readers who provides information)Expreview Faster, less power consumption and maybe even cheaper! And a RV775xt to fight this? ***News*** 55nm GTX285 Climbs to Head of Single-GPU Cards!
nice! thx for the info***News*** 55nm GTX285 Climbs to Head of Single-GPU Cards!
Nice one Wklzip, as informative as ever! :D
I plan on stepping up to this card in a month or two.
I'd much rather hear a price range.
nice! thx for the info
:)

Welcome as always! :D
im confused which of theese is the best card also is in x2 configeration. The GTX295?
looks promising but ive also heard 5850's and 5970's with 30nm procs are coming out next year ;)
5870*

Same.

Great Ati will come out with another overheated card.
Great Ati will come out with another overheated card.
Oh don't do that :P I can already see this thread turning into a flame war between ATI and Nvidia fan boys

Agreed even though he has a point, but its not like the 200 series doesn't run hot either ;)

on-topic:

I want a price, if its the same as the 4870X2 then that's fair enough but if they market it higher then that which is likely they are just kicking themselves in the teeth.
Well It may overheat a bit but they may release better Aftermarket cooler after 3-6 month like the 4870 1GB GS = better cooling right ?!

or the 4870x2 That coming out soon with a better cooling solution as we spotted on techpower up news last month anyway it sad that ati as to release the 5850/5870 in 2009 Q2 instead of Q1 but i hope they got some plan to climb a little against nvidia 295GTX (Dual Card) %26 285GTX (Single Card)
reminds of the 9800x2
lol look my 4850's run just fine if heat bothers u that much no wonder your using nvidia not that they are a bad card, but i dnt sit here and bad mouth them either :p
reminds of the 9800x2
Its the same thing with two 260 basically.
it will be stronger they say then sli 260GTx by maybe a 5% if possible anyway we want to see more benchmark of the power of it on the 3 Current resolution 1280x1024 or 1440x900 %26 1680x1050 1920x1200 %26 on the enthusiast one that is 2560x1600 so we know how it perform :D
I was just kiding guys lol I'm proud of ATI they made a hell of a series this time around........
y did'nt they do a gtx285x2 !!!
