IS technology improving to fast?

yer even though its a good thing abut technology improving but really there are new computer componants every month or so and you buy something an it goes out of date in like 6 months just think as time goes on it will be like every week a new part comes out then maybe even 1 a day ;) i think its a good thing but i just find it hard to keep up with it buying all the parts ( college student low income to buy everythink :( ) so whats your thoughts on this.IS technology improving to fast?
It's been like this with computer hardware for many many years now. If you want to see how crazy things are going to get check out Intels Tera-scale Computing Research Program.

holy **** thats going to be sick :D
Not really. According to Steam, I am in the top 15% in computer performance and I have the older am2 x2 6000 C.P.U., with an 8800gts 320 video card. When new parts come out, the older stuff falls in price to my budget end. My C.P.U. was $300 when it came out and I just got it for $79. Video cards have come down a lot in price lately. Cutting edge technology will cost you plenty, but for those of us on a tight budget, a little Patience can get you decent hardware at a good price.

new stuff coming out all the time, but i can still max out games with amd 6000+ and 88GT, so not much point buying any $2000 rig. still waiting for the next big thing.
that's a good thing, the more cards released the more affordable midrange cards get and when no new games really need the 4870s it means it pushes 9600gt level cards out to the masses. Who cares if there is no game that can fully use the fastest cards yet.

No, it just means that just because new parts come out, doesn't mean you should buy them.

Some people like burning money for 5-6 FPS.
Never! I wish they'd stop using silly names for things though

Improving too fast-noMoving too fast-YesToo many products being released with games and systems that aren't going to show the capabilities of the hardware.

Believe me we are improving too fast, just compare between now and 15 years old.

What i mean is, every few months a new graphics card is released (it seems like that anyway) and the gains between each new release seems minimal (because new games aren't for the latest hardware, they are usually for the mainstream levels of hardware)
yer, games are moving alot slower than hardware so whats the point in having the next best graphics card if you cant use it to its potential, and i agree that the more new GPUs that come out the other ones will drop in price good for us people with a tight budget. maybe they need to put more time into the games and other programs making the new hardware worth getting.
I wish technology would move faster. I don't see technology as the problem, the problem is these greedy GPU manufacturers that want to make as much money as possible, so they make 1,000 (a little exaggeration) different cards all within spitting distance of each other in performance, so people buying new cards today think they are getting something ''new''. I mean hell, half of Nvidia's 9 series line up, is nothing more than re-badged 8 series.

This is true.. I bought a 9 series, but that's because I had a 7 series. At the time it was cheaper then the equivalent 8 series card!
It is not moving fast enough in my opinion. 80 core research chips that is what they have although they will drag that out so they get their money worth from us with 4 core 8 core 16 core etc you name it before they give us 80 core power. We should be living on Mars by now.

All graphics will be raytraced by the CPU and all you will need is a simple intergrated graphics output of the results.
