I don't know if upgrade is the word.

Stick to XP, Windows 7 should be launching on Q2/Q3 2009.
Great job putting together a system on such a low budget. That thing should scream.
Hitachi Deskstar? :| ECS? :| Rosewill? :| Fatal1ty Edition? :
|Decent for the price after rebate, i would of gone with a better motherboard/psu. For 50 bucks more, you could of gotten a e5200 and a Gigabyte Ga-Ep45-ud3r, and gskills ddr1000 for good overclocking, which would take a dump on that brisbane. Add in overclocking and its like comparing a calculator to a computer. Now that i look at it, everything listen besides the gpu i would never buy, but its a decent way to start i guess, you can always upgrade psus later down the road, same with cpu, etc
How well would that rig perform in games like CSS?

I don't like ECS either, but he kept it under 400 after rebate, and your suggestion wouldn't be under 400.
That rig would run absolutely perfectly in Counterstrike: Source, and most modern games for that matter. You would never drop below anything less than stellar frame rates in any source engine game, even at high resolutions and full detail. The only possible issue that I see is the power supply, which really should be upgraded to a 500W or better at some point. It should be good enough to get up and running though.
Well he can get a Asrock Twinx Or Asrock Extreme (more expensive far better similary to P45 GA-DQ6 Of Gigabyte) or a Biostar P45. Or an Asus P5Q at 85$ Since he can't get the 110$ Gigabyte UD3R Which is Awesome if i was to pick someting not under the Asrock Extreme / Asus P5Q

I will get a 500W when I get the money.
