I'm not entirely sure what to ask, since I'm not entirely sure where the problem is.I reformated my HDD recently, then put windows on, installed drivers, downloaded apps etc...However, for some reason my computer doesn't pick up mass storage devices. My USB mouse/keyboard work fine, but if I plug in my Memory Stick or External HDD, nothing comes up. I hear something needs to be enabled in BIOS, but I'm not exactly sure what to look for. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. USB troubles
I suppose a BUMP is in order.USB troubles
If you reinstalled XP, did you do all the windows update....I know it kind of a long shot !
I downloaded SP2, and earlier I shut the computer down to install updates, unfortunately I still can't get it to pick them up. Thanks but...is there anything else you can think of?
Latest Motherboad specific drivers from the manufacturers site? I am not aware of any BIOS settings.
Ya, I would also suggest the latest motherboard chipset drivers.
Really? So I'd have to download drivers for each manufacturer? There's not just one I could download to cover all external hardware?
Apologies, though I don't know a lot when it comes to drivers.
Well, I've tried to figure out for myself over the past couple of days with no luck. My tinkering failed me, can anyone think of any drivers I might be missing? I can't have a computer that doesn't pick up storage devices...
Tell us what model motherboard you have and we can find a link for you to download from.
No worries now, I asked someone at hand for help and they solved it within in minute (I was happy yet...annoyed that it was so simple).
All is well.
