Which graphics card to get - 4870 X2 or GTX 260's in SLI?

Which of the above two is a better choice for a new rig?(Specs of new rig are i7 920 2.66GHz, 4GB RAM, 1000W PSU)Which perform better for games like Crysis etc?Which graphics card to get - 4870 X2 or GTX 260's in SLI?

Yes. Also are you sure you have 4GB DDR3 with that i7 setup? It is probably either 3GB or 6GB.

Have you thought about the GTX 295? Check it out.
[QUOTE=''patano16'']Isnt the 4870x2 better the GTX 280?[/QUOTE]Yes but there always seem to be driver issues with ATI cards, on raw power in the card its a beast.As for Crysis that game is better optimised for Nvidia cards so a GTX260 usually out performs a 4870x2 in that game.Your choice should all depend on the games your gonna be playing, do some research on benchmarks then work your decision from there.
As for the RAM question, I honestly don't know, I got a quote from a recommended custom PC shop near me, it said 4GB RAM among the specs, maybe they made a mistake Ill have to clear that up with them, cheers!I'm probably going to spend a little extra and just get 2 GTX 280's, that will last me a LONG time without need for change. As for the processor, a 2.66GHZ i7 should be enough right, to handle pretty much any game?
Wait for the GTX 295. Even if you don't plan to get it (I think you should get it), the prices of most other cards will drop when it is released.
